Technology in Learning Essay: Collaboration Across Developmental Levels

The developmental levels of learning have been identified as infancy, early childhood, late childhood, and adolescence. The first stage mostly occurs at home, and technology has minimal productive roles to play. Technology can only be applied when learners can process information. Children are usually in preschool in early childhood, and technology can be applied through children’s programs by making them watch educational content on television. In middle childhood and late childhood, technology can be integrated into the learning process by providing students with computers from where they can learn and connect with their fellow students. Introducing them to computers early in life helps improve their cognitive skills and retention abilities. They can replicate the concepts taught in class back home using their computers, enhancing their memory. In adolescence, computers are not the only forms of technology used in the learning process. The students are encouraged and taught how to study the world and what goes on from the internet and identify their roles in society. That means that as they study, they do so to make a change in society rather than just going through the normal education process as a routine. The technological tools used during adolescence are varied and include augmented reality apps, google forms, socrative, padlet, and many other modern technological tools (McGuire, 2022). These can be integrated into the learning process in unique ways to sharpen learners into becoming productive members of society.
