         Multiculturalism is all about having different and unique cultures throughout the globe. Having many cultures and appreciating cultural diversity gained recognition in the 21st century partly due to the efforts made by proponents of humanistic psychology. Individuals who represent multiculturalism are encouraged to share their experiences, values, communication patterns, and other norms. Through multiculturalism, it is also encouraged that people do not abandon their cultural values for what is considered a more purist humanistic psychological approach (Schneider et al., 2015). Multiculturalism remains important in psychology today as it advocates for societies to embrace people for who they are and understand that they are all unique despite their cultural affiliations and differences.

         Bentley’s lament can be traced back to the mid 20th century when various psychological research pointed to the idea that psychology is driven and influenced by external factors. In the search for the psyche, there are many external factors that come into play and in the end, it is okay for humans to channel their emotions or pour their hearts out in different situations. Bentley’s lament is significant in psychology today because there are many factors that drive individual behavior and actions. Factors such as technology, physical sciences, computer design, and many others influence an individuals psyche and as such, must always be taken into account (Schneider et al., 2015).
