Tangible Negotiation Reflection
A tangible negotiation I have had was with a friend and the item involved was a sneaker shoe. My friend was making a sale of a shoe which he had worn several times but the shoe was as good as new. He was selling the shoe at the same price but wanted to buy the shoe at a lower price since he had used it. He consulted me and I was willing to buy the shoe other than find a buyer. He hoped to sell the shoe at the same price he bought the shoe but I was only willing to buy at a lower price. After a prolonged discussion we came to conclusion where each one agreed on the price. I needed the shoe and my friend need the money and hence the pricing was ranged on how much he needed not profitability. I had no strategy to help me in negotiation but if I had one I would have negotiated better. From the negotiation I learnt that is good to have a negotiation strategy to help in the negotiation process.
Intangible negotiation reflection
One of the intangible negotiations I have been engaged in is in school. This was when I need more time to complete my assignment and had to negotiate with the professor. The negotiation began when I realised the due date was almost and my assignment was yet to be completed. There was a strong give from me and take from the lecturer though it was tough for me. Finally we were able to come to an agreement and I was given an extension but under the condition of writing an inconvenience letter. I had planned for strategy before entering into a negotiation which played a major role in completion of the agreement. From the negotiation I learnt that having a strategy is good will help come to an agreement more fast than when you have to strategize in the middle of a negotiation.
